This authentic 1940s black corde bag, was made during WW2 abd were very popular! This particular one is very unique in that the pattern in the front of the bag is 3-dimensional rather than the regular flat lay design.
In great shape!All of the cord is there and is attached perfectly no loose ends! Zippers work beautifully.
This is a cornerstone accessory for any 1940s or vintage handbag collection. This bag does have the design everywhere, even the bottom!

Corde bags
Corde, pronounced "corday", is a bag made of a buckrum base, lined in silk or other fabric, and the cord embroidery is either rayon or silk. This embroidery is made on a Bonnaz-Cornely machine in a 'plaque', or flat shape before being trimmed and attached to the bag. The original Bonnaz embroidery machine was invented by Antione Bonnaz in 1865. It was used to imitate tambour embroidery, a type of chain stitch done by hand, but could be mass produced with this machine. Ercole Cornely further developed this machine and it became the product used to make the cord embroidery seen on these purses.
Corde purses, though technically in existence since the late 1920s*, became well-known in the 1930's, becoming increasingly popular by 1942, and continued into the 1950's. The bags of this style are all called Corde and several brands produced them over the years,

Sizing details
Fashion: We do our very best to flat lay measure all of our clothing items in addition to estimating the US numerical size when one is not clearly visible on the garment tag. Having said that, garment fit does vary from designer to designer and decade to decade so we encourage you to pay special attention to the flat lay measurements provided in the description of the item.
Vintage Condition
Most of our vintage garments fall in one of three categories:
Dead Stock - These are pieces that never sold in the stores. They still have their original tags and have never been worn.
Gently Loved: These pieces are used. They have been worn and part of someone's wardrobe at some point in time. These items may have some visible signs of wear and we do our very best to photograph and document any flaws on the garment.
Re-Invented: These are custom, one of a kind pieces that have been restored, repurposed, re-envisioned or reimagined into a new piece by using other vintage items and findings. Many times, these pieces merge different decades together and are just fun special garments.
Vintage Condition Continued...
Regardless if you choose a vintage garment from dead stock, used or reinvented, there will most likely be some sign of age to the garment. A brand new dress will show some age after 50 years even if its just sitting on a hanger. From a stray thread, a loose button, slight fading, or the occasional fraying or spot; Vintage clothes are well, vintage. We do our very best to document and photograph any imperfections we find and encourage customers to take the time to read the full descriptions of items listed on our shop.
